To support education and youth development in Hancock County, GA by providing scholarship and developmental opportunities for students in grades 1-12 and to encourage creative programs and projects that enhance student's learning experiences.
Pat Henry: Pat was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from the City of Atlanta School System in 1970. He then graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in accounting.
In 1995, Pat joined the Lions Club. He enjoys hunting and began hunting in Hancock County in 1989 later purchasing property with Sherry in 1995. They built a permanent residence 2000 and moved to Hancock County in June of 2001.
Pat has two married daughters and four grandchildren and has been married to his wife Sherry for 50 years. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, gardening, and reading science fiction.
Sherry Henry: Sherry is a wife, mother, grandmother, retired nurse, educator, and entrepreneur who realized her dream of living out in the country on a farm. She moved to Hancock County in 2001, where she sews, quilts, reads, gardens, and tries to give back with a grateful heart to the community that adopted her.
Herbert Monroe: Herbert was born in Louisiana and graduated from Lincoln High School. He went on to Grambling State University, where he played football for Hall of Fame coach Eddie Robinson. Herbert majored in Health and Physical Education and minored in science.
After graduation Herbert served in the Army in Viet Nam. Following his service, he came to Hancock County and worked for the Board of Education for 32 years. while at Hancock Central, Herbert coached Basketball and Football.
After retiring from the school system, Herbert served as Chairman of the Board of Education.
He has been a member of the Sparta Lions Club for 20 years and is Club President.
Virginia McGee Brown: Virginia retired from the Georgia Department of Human Resources after 34 years. She then worked in State, County, and City governments with a second retirement from City of Sparta. While with the City of Sparta, she worked at the Hancock County Health Department and was closely connected with the schools.
She now works part-time as Treasurer for local church.
Mrs. Brown has lived in Hancock County all my life with exception of college attendance. Graduated from Georgia College.
She encourages students to strive to do their best. “Don’t ever say you can’t, say you can!”
She is interested in funding programs that will help students learn and reach their goals and she also has an interest for religious education as well having served many past years as a Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Brown is currently a member of Hancock County Board of Family and Children Services.
Clifford Brown: Clifford has lived in Hancock County for 75 years with the exception of his time with the U.S. Army. He attended Mercer University. Clifford retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation Highway Engineer with 34 years of service..
Clifford has an interest for students to be able to achieve in school and to be able to further their education. He has coached a high school boys’ basketball team for many years. While coaching he emphasized the importance of education. He has also served as a Trustee for a local private school.
Clifford has an interest in religious education for young people. He has also served as a past Lay Speaker at local church.
